Lebanon County commissioners on Wednesday approved an early lease termination with Acadia Healthcare for space formerly used as a methadone clinic, with Acadia agreeing to pay the remaining balance of rent for the unit through the lease’s scheduled expiration.
The agreement brings $127,765.44 to the county’s drug-and-alcohol commission program and sets an effective lease termination date of May 30, 2025. County solicitor Keith Lee said Acadia paid May’s rent and negotiated to settle the remainder of the obligation.
Keith Lee, Lebanon County solicitor, told commissioners that Acadia (doing business as Acadia Healthcare) sought to end its lease early for the facility on Chestnut Street and that “they are agreeable to paying the full balance, remaining, in the lease agreement until the current lease is set to expire November thirtieth of 2026.” The solicitor said he had an updated agreement reflecting May’s payment and the new total.
Discussion at the meeting noted that Acadia continues to lease other parts of the property — including a separate lease for the White Deer Run treatment facility — and that county staff have begun outreach to potential replacement tenants for the vacated methadone clinic space. Jim Dunoyer (county staff) was reported to have begun preliminary discussions with prospective new tenants but no new tenant had been identified at the time of the vote.
The board moved and approved the termination; commissioners voted in favor and the motion carried. The proceeds from the early termination were described at the meeting as payable to the Lebanon County Commission on Drug and Alcohol Abuse program rather than to the county general fund.
County staff said they will begin seeking prospective new tenants for the space now that Acadia’s portion of the lease is set to end on May 30, 2025. No timetable was provided for re-leasing the premises.
