Delhi Township votes to bring Event Center operations in-house, creates marketing director post

The Delhi Township Board of Trustees voted to add a department‑head level Marketing and Events Director position and begin a transition to township management of the Delhi Event Center, the board said during its May meeting.

Administrator Miller said the change is intended to consolidate oversight because the township owns the liquor license and wants direct control of community programming. "It makes sense, especially with the community events that we're trying to do outside," Miller said, adding the township plans an "official takeover of the event center starting July 1." He told the board the job description is publicly posted and the township is doing targeted outreach to hospitality and marketing professional organizations.

The resolution (2025‑68) was introduced, a motion to dispense with a second reading carried, and the board adopted the measure by roll call vote. Trustee Davis and other trustees discussed the prior role of Hfit, which managed the space while the township established operations. "This is not a referendum on any actions of Hfit," Miller said; he described the transition as a bookkeeping and operational move rather than a net increase in spending: "As we phase out Hfit and take this over for ourselves, it's a transition of those expenses from the Hfit side to us. But it's not an increase. It's not redundant; we're just moving where that money is spent."

Miller said the township will coordinate a transition plan with Hfit and consult existing Hfit staff as part of bringing operations under township management. He said the township intends to recruit a seasoned professional for the new director role and that the job posting is on the township website. "We are targeting certain industries," Miller said, "we hope it gets a lot of attention."

Board members said the change is aimed at improving responsiveness and providing direct reporting for issues or suggestions related to the new facility. The resolution was adopted with a recorded roll call following the board's motion to dispense with a second reading.

The board did not adopt a staffing hire at the meeting; the resolution authorizes adding the job description and begins the administrative transition steps needed to place the position and transfer operational duties.

Trustees and administration said they will publish more details about the hiring process and the transition plan on the township website.
