The council heard that only two bidders responded to the town’s request and that hauling to Westbrook raises transport distance but the negotiated rates made the deal comparable to the prior contract. Tim (town manager) summarized the procurement and said the five-year term reflected current market conditions; the council then voted 5–0 to authorize the manager to sign the contract.
Councilors and staff noted the town could consider purchasing its own vehicle and running hauling operations in-house in the future, but staff said current analysis favors contracting for the five-year term. The contract was presented to the council as a motion to authorize the town manager to enter the agreement; the motion carried unanimously.
