Huntley 158 board reviews final draft of five‑year strategic plan emphasizing 'All Students Always'

Board members reviewed the final draft of Huntley Community School District 158’s proposed five‑year strategic plan, a document the administration said will guide priorities and annual key performance indicators (KPIs).

The draft centers on five priority areas: teaching and learning; student success; future readiness; community engagement; and fiscal stewardship. Cross‑cutting concepts such as fiscal responsibility, transparent decision making, educational equity, innovation, two‑way communication and workplace excellence are embedded across the priorities. The draft retains the motto “All students always.”

Administrators said the draft grew from stakeholder sessions that included students, staff, parents and community members. The packet presented to the board includes a cover letter on the planning process, recommended mission and vision wording, long‑range goals and three “portraits” describing the desired learner, learning environment and working environment.

Board members who participated in the guided team praised the process as inclusive and substantive. One board member said the draft showed tangible evidence that participants’ input was heard. Members noted the plan is intentionally focused on long‑range goals; the administration will bring back specific KPIs and annual targets for board review.

Administration said it will bring a final version for approval next month and will produce supporting materials such as short videos that demonstrate what the portraits look like at different grade levels. No formal vote on the strategic plan occurred at this meeting.
