Ken Chaffin, principal of Marysville High School, certified at the Marysville Schools commencement ceremony that “all 391 candidates for graduation before you this evening have indeed met all requirements outlined by the Ohio Department of Education and our Board of Education and are eligible to receive their diploma as a graduate of Marysville Schools.”
Bill Keck, president of the Marysville Exempted Village School District Board of Education, accepted the class on behalf of the board, saying, “On behalf of the Marysville Exempted Village School District Board of Education, I'm honored to accept the class of 2025.”
Scott Bennett, principal of Marysville STEM Early College High School, and other school officials were onstage during the certification and diploma presentation. Earlier in the program, a district speaker described the graduating cohort as “approximately 391 students,” language echoed in the ceremony before the principals read the formal certification.
The ceremony also included academic and program recognitions: speakers noted multiple valedictorians, recipients of the President’s Education Awards, students who earned state honors diplomas, and students who completed associate degrees through the Marysville–Columbus State partnership. The program listed athletic and extracurricular accomplishments the district highlighted as part of the class’s record.
Superintendent Diane Allen was acknowledged during the event; an on-stage tribute identified her as the district’s outgoing superintendent after 13 years of service.
The certification at commencement is a formal statement by school leadership that candidates meet the education and board requirements for diplomas; no vote or additional board action was announced during the ceremony.
