The Lindbergh School District Board of Education approved an amendment to the contract with Southwest Food Service Excellence (SFE) for the 2025'26 school year at its May 15 meeting.
Joelle Scheibel explained the amendment is a standard annual item under the district's five-year contract with SFE. Under the arrangement the contractor administers and manages the food service operation; all revenue flows through the district and the district reimburses SFE for program costs and pays a fee per meal and a la carte item for the contractor's services. Scheibel said the operating budget for the district food service program is approximately $3,900,000 and that the contractor's fee increased slightly as part of the annual adjustment.
The board had a motion to approve the contract amendment; the motion was seconded and passed on a 7-0 vote. No additional financial appropriation beyond the district's existing food-service budget was approved at the meeting. Scheibel described the item as a routine administrative renewal and said the district had gone out to bid previously when the five-year contract was awarded.
