Superintendent Scott Cowart used his report at the May special meeting to highlight student and staff achievements across Carroll County Schools, including statewide recognitions and program milestones.
Cowart said four graduating seniors were named International Skills Diploma star students and that 47 students earned an international skills diploma. He noted a Veil Rica High School student was named a Georgia Scholar — one of 145 recognized statewide. Cowart also highlighted 45 graduating seniors who completed the district’s Advanced Academic Pathways program and noted Mount Zion High School earned the 2024 Governor’s Office of Student Achievement designation as a high-growth school based on prior-year test scores.
Cowart congratulated athletic teams and other student awardees, and he credited board and district leadership for stewardship reflected in an efficiency rating from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. He also referenced upcoming events, including scholarship presentations by the district foundation, multiple graduation ceremonies across three days, and an alternative-program graduation that recognizes nontraditional and older learners who completed their diplomas.
Cowart closed by inviting questions from the board; none were asked before the meeting moved to the budget presentation.
