PAS partnership credited with high graduation rate; board to renew MOU and approves interim leadership at Partners Advancing Student Success

Dr. Jess Gage (student achievement) introduced an update from Partners Advancing Student Success (PAS) on May 12 and presented the organization’s annual memorandum of understanding for placement on the consent agenda.
Brooke Mobley, PAS executive director, said PAS advocates served 310 students on caseload this school year, including 71 seniors, and that the seniors achieved a 98.5% graduation rate. Mobley said PAS care closets in all high schools have provided essentials and that PAS advocates logged nearly 18,000 visits since the start of the school year.
Mobley and Jerome Johnston, PAS board chair, described program expansions including a pilot mentorship program at Mount Zion High School that the organization intends to expand next year. Mobley said the mentorship pilot connected students with caring adult mentors and that all four seniors who participated in the pilot graduated and planned to enroll in college, technical school or enter the workforce.
Johnston announced PAS named Meredith Browning, currently an advocate at Central High School, as interim executive director. He also outlined board leadership changes and new board appointments: Jennifer Harmon (Carroll EMC) will move from vice chair to chair, Ashley Bush (Southwire) to vice chair, Tanya Haines will replace Heather North as the Carroll County Schools representative, and Dr. Kylie Carroll will replace Ashley Paul as the Carrollton City Schools representative.
Board business: Dr. Gage said the annual MOU for 2025–26 continues funding for seven PAS advocates located at Bowden (1), Central (2), Mount Zion (1), Temple (1) and Vilrica (2) high schools and recommended placing the MOU on Thursday’s consent agenda; the board agreed to add it to consent. Johnston noted a couple of staff vacancies — an anticipated resignation at Central and one at Bowden — that PAS will recruit to refill.
Why it matters: PAS provides targeted advocacy and basic needs support for students identified as at risk; the reported graduation rates and high number of care‑closet visits were cited in support of renewing the MOU and continuing the partnership.
