Joaquin High School seniors make ‘return to my roots’ visits to former elementary schools

Joaquin High School’s class of 2025 took part in a “return to my roots” event during the week of May 12, visiting their former elementary schools, reuniting with former teachers and taking part in mini pep rallies and hallway parades.
Nicholas Alazakis, director of communications for Waukegan Public Schools, said the visits gave graduating seniors an opportunity to “give back to the communities that helped shape them,” and to inspire younger students preparing to follow their path.
The district described touching moments between seniors and former staff, and noted the day included school spirit activities and brief pep assemblies. The district did not provide a full list of elementary schools visited or a count of participating seniors.
