Watershed Council chair signals intent to step down; members plan officer selection at next meeting

Brett Gravadell, the Watershed Council chair, told members at the May 13 meeting that he would like to step back from the chair role and asked the council to address officer succession at the next scheduled meeting.
“I’d like to give it somebody a little more energy and desire to take it to do great things,” Gravadell said, explaining he has been trying to retire and that he would remain a council member. He asked that the council place leadership elections on the next meeting agenda and offered to chair the following meeting while members consider nominations.
Council discussion touched on the council’s bylaws and an officer progression model in which the vice chair becomes chair at the end of a term; members noted the bylaws set officer terms at two years. Jeff Crozier said he would be willing to take additional leadership responsibility if the council supports that progression, and others agreed it was reasonable to postpone a formal vote until more members can participate.
The council agreed to include officer nominations and an election on the next meeting agenda and to solicit input from members who were not present at the May 13 meeting. No formal election or vote was recorded at this meeting.
