Commissioners approve permit for broadband relocation off county bridge

Adams County commissioners approved a permit for JL Contracting and Communications to relocate a Mediacom broadband line from a bridge over Gherke Creek and to install it by boring under the creek.
Mark, a highway-department staff member who presented the permit, said the line is currently mounted on the bridge at the Gherke Creek crossing on Pickle Road and that contractors need to move it off the bridge and bore beneath the creek. “They are going to move their Mediacom broadband service…they need to get it off bridal and bore under the creek,” he said.
A commissioner moved to accept the permit and another seconded; the motion passed. County staff noted the relocation will reduce utility attachments on the bridge and allow bridge work to proceed without the utility in place.
Staff will monitor the permit implementation and coordinate with the contractor to minimize impacts to traffic and bridge operations.
