Procurement staff reported the county received 19 sealed bids for drug-screening cups and recommended awarding the contract to American Screening.

A presenter said Tim Syed and staff reviewed the bids; the recommended vendor’s cup is a 14-panel cup rather than a 12-panel cup and the vendor offered a no-price-increase guarantee for the life of the contract. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved awarding the contract to American Screening by voice vote.

No dollar amount for the contract was announced at the meeting; the presenter noted that bid prices varied widely across submissions and that the difference between the lowest and second-lowest bids was one cent per cup, making the 14-panel configuration and the price guarantee the deciding factors.

The contract award was recorded as approved; staff will proceed with contracting per procurement procedures.
