Sawyer County CJCC votes to form four‑member executive committee

The Sawyer County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council approved a motion on May 14 to create a four‑member executive committee to review the CJCC’s bylaws, mission and strategic planning and to identify members for a future data committee.

Council leadership said the executive committee will begin by reviewing bylaws and mission statements and comparing them with current best practices observed at high-performing CJCCs. “Many of the CJCCs that were high functioning had three to four work groups that actually brought the data into the work group,” the meeting chair said during discussion.

Council members discussed membership and said the initial committee would include Julia Lyons, Elaine Smith and Kathy McCoy; the transcript shows a fourth member was intended to be named during the meeting but that person was not confirmed in the recorded discussion. A member volunteered to serve as one of the chairs in place of Judge Isham, who the chair said may lack time to take that role.

A motion to form the committee was made and seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote with the result recorded as “Motion carries.” The meeting did not record a roll‑call tally for the vote.

Council members said the executive committee would meet first with a smaller group to determine missing representation and to develop a regular meeting schedule. The committee is expected to identify a CJCC coordinator role and recommend work groups, including a data committee to gather and present information to support CJCC strategy.

No bylaws revisions or personnel appointments were finalized during the May 14 meeting; the action was limited to creating the executive committee and approving initial membership to begin planning work.
