Wauwatosa, WisDOT present 30% design for Wis. 181 rebuild with bike, pedestrian upgrades

City staff and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation on Tuesday presented a 30% design for reconstructing Wisconsin 181 — the Glenview Avenue and Wauwatosa Avenue corridor from Wisconsin Avenue to Center Street — outlining pavement replacement, utility work and new bike and pedestrian accommodations.
The presentation to the Wauwatosa Transportation Affairs Committee was given by Jenny Schrader, senior civil engineer and the project manager for the city. Schrader said the goals "are to replace all the pavement, traffic signals, address structure maintenance, replace all utilities, including storm sanitary sewers, water main, and street lighting, improve the ADA accessibility, and maintain the sidewalks, improving the pedestrian ramps, and overall enhance the corridor and intersection safety and efficiency for all users."
