City Council voted 7-0 on Oct. 21 to approve a special‑use permit allowing the continued sale of alcoholic beverages for on‑premises consumption at the Stone House restaurant (5201 Colleyville Boulevard) following a change in ownership.
Director of Community Development Ben Bridal said a change of ownership triggers a new special‑use-permit review under the zoning ordinance; staff recommended approval and the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 6-0. No public opposition was reported to the notices mailed to surrounding property owners.
Outgoing owner Lisa Arnaud addressed the council and introduced the incoming majority owners, Brian and Christy Hendershot, who said they were committed to continuing the Stone House tradition and serving the community. Council members offered remarks of appreciation to the outgoing owners and welcomed the new owners.
Why it matters: The permit preserves an established restaurant use and transfers the conditional approval for on‑premises alcoholic beverage sales to the new ownership as required by the ordinance language. Council removed a previous ordinance provision that would have required automatic reapproval on any future change of ownership.
Ending: Council members said they look forward to supporting the new ownership and encouraged the community to continue patronizing the restaurant.
