Henderson property owner disputes complaints, says repairs underway

At the Oct. 14 York County meeting, Henderson property owner Rakesh Pai addressed the board during public comment to correct statements about alleged neglect at properties he owns along IAT in Henderson.
"If there is something wrong with some property or some facilities...the first step would have been a better way to reach out to the owner," Pai said, explaining he has been repairing buildings and spent "six-figure dollars" on sewer repairs and other work. He said the properties are active businesses and that one was leased to a state contractor that is finishing a cleanup job this month.
Pai told commissioners the properties are about 70% occupied and said residents, including seasonal H‑2A workers, are being housed in updated rooms. He asked county officials and neighbors to contact him directly about concerns and offered to show plans and progress in person.
No formal action was taken by the board on the public comment; commissioners thanked Pai and said staff would follow up as needed.
