Richland County approves repairs and payments after Diamond water-main break

The Richland County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 14 approved three contracts and purchase charges to repair damage from a recent water-main break on Diamond.
The commissioners approved a bid from Glen Hill Concrete for sidewalk repairs at $18,700, a $241.50 charge from Adam Go for supplies related to the waterline repair, and an estimate from Oyster for pavement work at $4,900. The items were presented by Maintenance Superintendent Josh Hicks and approved by motion of the board.
The measures were described by county staff as follow-up repairs after the county building was closed one day because of the break. The board moved and seconded the award of the three quotes and recorded affirmative votes during the roll call portion of the meeting.
The approvals will allow staff to schedule the concrete, supply and pavement work to restore the impacted right-of-way and sidewalk areas on Diamond.
Commission business that followed included routine items and an executive session called later in the meeting for the employment of a public employee; commissioners reported no action after that session.
