Commission approves partial vacation of Harbor Colony plat to allow two single-family homes

The Brevard County commission approved a petition to vacate part of a plat in Harbor Colony and accept drainage and utility easements; the vote was unanimous.
The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners voted 5-0 on Oct. 14 to approve a petition to vacate a portion of the Harbor Colony plat in District 2 to permit development of two single-family homes.
Mark (planning staff) described the request as a partial vacation of Via Roma to allow the petitioner to consolidate lots for two houses and said the county would retain drainage and utilities access easements. A nearby resident, David Burjo, raised questions about the Via Roma public right of way and drainage impacts; Mark replied that the county does not intend to connect New Found Harbor Drive to South Banana River Drive and that the vacation would include easements for existing utilities and drainage access.
There was no extended discussion. Commissioner Goodson moved approval; Commissioner Delaney seconded. The clerk called the roll and recorded yes votes from Commissioner Delaney, Vice Chair Goodson, Commissioner Atkinson, Commissioner Altman and Chairman Feltner. The motion passed 5-0.
The approval included the reservation of easements for utilities and drainage to preserve existing service access and allow county work in the area.
