The Tonganoxie City Council authorized staff to accept a quote from Ed M Feld Equipment Company Inc. for replacement air pack equipment for the Fire Department, conditioned on the federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) award being formally accepted.
Staff said the grant award covers a substantial portion of the cost for the air packs and that FEMA’s online grant portal is temporarily unavailable because of a federal government shutdown; staff directed the vendor not to ship or proceed with procurement until the city has formally accepted the grant after the portal resumes operation. The vendor quote was procured through the HGAC cooperative contract and staff said the procurement approach meets the city’s policy.
The council motion authorized acceptance of the vendor quote dated Oct. 13, 2025, from Ed M Feld Equipment Company Inc. in an amount not to exceed $209,009.20, but explicitly conditioned the authorization on confirmation of the grant acceptance by FEMA. Council approved the motion unanimously.
