In the presentation staff described how the parcel's size (just under 10 acres, as stated in the meeting) could support about one mile of trail if developed as a stand-alone corridor; the presentation referenced possible connections to the Arlington system south of Lake Arlington and on toward downtown Fort Worth and Dallas. A council member asked whether the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) would be the purchasing entity; staff confirmed the EDC would proceed with the purchase if council approved.
A motion to purchase the land carried unanimously, 4-0. Council did not set a public timetable for development; staff said the acquisition aligns with the future land use exhibit included in the meeting packet and is intended to preserve open space and trail connectivity.
