According to the staff presentation, each partner will contribute toward acquisition costs and the city will maintain the property with lease proceeds dedicated for upkeep and improvements; the deed will include transfer restrictions requiring partner approval for any sale.
Commission action: The commission voted by voice to approve the BCIC contribution of up to $500,000; a motion and second were recorded and the motion carried.
Why it matters: Staff framed the acquisition as a way to secure workforce service space locally and to prevent relocation of the provider to another community. The property will be leased to Workforce Solutions Cameron to provide workforce services and training.
Next steps: The interlocal agreements among partners and lease terms will be finalized and staff said lease proceeds would be used for maintenance and improvements as described in the staff presentation.
