Goose Creek CISD trustees say survey drew more than 450 responses, recess into closed session; no action taken

The Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees told the public that the district received “well over 450” responses to a recent community survey and said several focus groups had provided substantial input, then recessed into closed session under Texas Government Code §551.071 and §551.074 during a special meeting that began at 5:03 p.m. and reconvened at 10:23 p.m.

Board leaders said the district used focus groups and the survey to collect feedback and that trustees reviewed the survey responses both individually and as a group. "We received well over 450 community survey responses, which we all reviewed, both individually and as groups," the presiding officer said.

No members of the public were signed up to speak during the citizens participation portion of the meeting. The board announced it would move to agenda item No. 4, recessing into closed session pursuant to Texas Government Code sections cited by the board. The presiding officer stated explicitly that "no action will be taken while the board is in closed session." The board later reconvened in open session at 10:23 p.m. and reported that no action had been taken while in closed session.

The meeting record included the board’s brief update about community outreach and the timing of the closed session; trustees did not announce any votes, appointments, contracts, ordinances, or other formal actions during the open portions of the meeting.

The board adjourned the special meeting at 10:23 p.m.
