Under the motion, staff will post public notices twice and accept applications for 30 calendar days. If multiple applicants apply, the council will follow the city’s standard vetting process for appointments; if no other applicants apply, the council may appoint the incumbent. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff will return to council with any applicants for vetting and appointment; council members also asked that the appointee provide periodic informational reports from the regional board.
