Student board representatives outline goals to amplify student voice and improve transitions

Two student board representatives, Ayanna and Malik, presented their goals for the school year during the Oct. 7 meeting, saying they intend to elevate student voice and make transitions smoother across the district.
They said main goals include increasing awareness of the school board at every school, improving transition and communication between elementary and middle/high schools, and creating a better onboarding process for future student board reps. The students proposed regular presentations to the board (about every two months) to report progress and recommended districtwide student and staff feedback surveys to identify issues for the board to consider.
They said they will attend a student school board conference and plan to report back to the board at the November meeting.
