Gatesville ISD reports summer meal counts, Primary campus wins Purple Star, and board training status announced

District staff updated trustees on several operational items: summer feeding totals, a Purple Star designation for the Primary campus, and board-member continuing-education reporting.
On summer feeding, the district reported serving 10,823 meals over a 38-day period in June and July. Staff said meal service was down from the prior year because the district operated only one kitchen (elementary) instead of two and redirected high-school service primarily to athletic camp participation; the program ran a deficit of about $3,200 for the summer, which staff said is offset in part by federal reimbursement rates and other meal revenue.
In another informational item, staff announced that the Primary campus earned the Purple Star designation for military-connected family supports; the presenter said 98 campuses statewide received the designation this year and eight were in Region 12. The district reported it will celebrate the award with a banner unveiling at a November family event.
Finally, the board president read required training completion statements into the record, listing trustees who have completed orientation, legislative updates, school safety, and other required continuing-education modules; two trustees were noted as having exceeded required hours.
