Jessica Houser, a junior high teacher presenting the request, said the planned trip is an all-inclusive package that includes round-trip transportation to the airport, sightseeing, admissions, hotel accommodations, meals and 24-hour support from the tour operator. The presenter said the district would partner with Cliftona nearby school program led by a colleagueif minimum sign-up thresholds are not met, and that organizers would aim to have a charter bus transport participants to and from the airport.
The vendor price shown on the presentation was $2,299 per student; presenters said families could use payment plans, fundraising programs, and vendor-provided financial assistance to lower out-of-pocket costs. Presenters also said teachers and parents can serve as chaperones and that program logistics include night chaperones supplied by the tour operator.
A motion to allow the trip was made and seconded; the board chair asked for an all-in-favor voice vote and moved the matter forward. The board did not record an individual roll-call tally in the public transcript, and no dissent was recorded.
