Assistant City Manager Ryan Holt reviewed selected resolutions and notable agenda items scheduled for the council meeting, flagging several items that staff considered noteworthy.
Holt said item 2025‑774 would bring an agreement to accept a SpaceX‑flown cargo capsule as a donation for the STEAM center; the capsule bears reentry markings and would be a high‑value exhibit. He also highlighted item 2025‑750, a proposed lease agreement with Zimmen Transportation for 51,000 square feet of hangar, apron and parking at Waco Regional Airport; staff said the lease would generate new revenue and help close about half of a prior $1 million annual subsidy the airport received from the general fund.
Other highlighted items included an agreement with On Duty Health to expand in‑depth physicals, cancer screening and advanced psychological screening to both firefighters and police officers; staff said the program expands an existing FP A‑compliant program and would screen for signals associated with more than 50 types of cancers and introduce advanced psychological screening for both departments.
Staff also noted a significant beverage production/distribution project described in the presentation as an investor putting roughly $250 million into an industrial facility expected to create 149 jobs averaging $54,000; staff described the proposal as an incentive structure repaid from sales tax revenue over time. Assistant City Manager Holt said an applicant requested the historic landmark designation for the Singer House at 3600 MacArthur Drive be continued to the Dec. 16 meeting.
The items Holt highlighted were on the consent/resolution lists and will appear for council action during the regular session; staff did not present final votes during the work session.
