City council hears PSE&G-backed energy efficiency programs; outreach event planned for November

Janavi Figueroa, marketing and outreach manager for CMC Energy Services, told the Trenton City Council that the company administers PSE&G energy-efficiency programs and is planning a citywide outreach event in mid-November to connect residents with free or subsidized home energy services.
Figueroa described three programs: the New Jersey Comfort Partners program (income-eligible, free weatherization and health-and-safety repairs), a moderate‑income home authorization program offering assessments and up to $7,500 in upgrades, and a home energy assessment open to all households that identifies efficiency opportunities and incentives. "Insulated attic saves energy and it keeps your family home, warm and safe," she said.
Council members asked about eligibility, timing and follow-up. Councilwoman Crystal Feliciano pressed for income thresholds and whether renters qualify; Figueroa said Comfort Partners is income‑qualified (eligibility information is published at pseg.com/comfortpartners) and that renters may qualify when units contain 14 or fewer units and landlords provide consent. She said some programs are year‑round, but specific services may have waiting lists and that follow‑up visits can occur when deeper retrofit work is required.
Councilwoman Williams and others welcomed the November workshop at City Hall to help residents complete applications and learn about financing options that can be paired with the free assessments. Figueroa said Comfort Partners has helped more than 125,000 households statewide and that PSE&G also offers rebates and financing products for households that do not fully qualify for the free measures.
The council did not take formal action; members encouraged the administration and CMC Energy Services to publicize the November event and to coordinate with local senior centers and community organizations so residents can access assessments and follow-up work.
