Committee members said the change aims to reduce conflicts with other boards and members’ schedules and to reduce the risk of losing active volunteers. Members noted council meets on the first and third Tuesdays and that Tuesdays were therefore not a good option. Various weekday options were considered; members said Fridays are inconvenient and that the committee’s current second-Wednesday schedule generally avoids many holiday conflicts.
"I would hate to lose like, we already need someone to fill a space," a committee member said while urging accommodation for schedule conflicts. Staff said the change would be small and easier for some members and would be posted publicly after confirmation.
Staff said they will check availability with the committee member named Ted and, if he can attend, will update the city secretary's website and meeting listings to show the new start time. The committee asked staff to post the schedule change publicly so potential volunteers and the public have accurate meeting information.
The committee did not hold a formal vote but agreed to the schedule change by consensus and set tasks for staff to confirm availability and update the official calendar.
