City schedules vendor briefings for micro‑mobility procurement; sustainability office posts rider survey

City staff updated the Bicycle Advisory Committee on the micro‑mobility (shared scooters/bikes) procurement process and a related public survey. Staff said they developed a set of stakeholder questions after consulting community groups and will host briefings with at least three vendors on May 20 to seek technical answers, not to commit to a specific operator.
"On May 20, our group is going to be presented to by, it looks like at least 3 different vendors, that we can ask these questions to. And it's not in a way of committing to anything," a staff member said. The procurement team will include representatives from engineering, sustainability, Metroplan, Mountain Line and NAU. Staff said the goal is to collect vendor responses, evaluate options and form a staff recommendation to present to city council after the council recess in August or September.
Separately, Sustainability staff have circulated a public survey about micro‑mobility. Committee members reported the city will use survey responses and vendor briefings to inform contract terms and operational questions such as parking, geofencing, and fleet size. Staff also noted that community outreach and stakeholder input from NAU, Mountain Line and downtown businesses are part of the process.
No procurement decision was made at the meeting; staff said the vendor briefings and survey responses will inform a future staff recommendation and possible council action later in the summer.
