CalPERS to release myCalPERS updates June 20 to simplify employer reporting and prevent payroll/posting errors

CalPERS system support staff told the School Employer Advisory Committee that a set of myCalPERS enhancements aimed at school employers will be released on June 20, 2025.
“There are three enhancements that we would like to highlight: the new employer panel and the annual reporting, the enhanced out-of-class functions, and then we have a new payroll validation,” said Pua Ying, system support, Core Account Management Division. She said the new employer panel will let a user select multiple school districts from a single login to complete annual information reporting without switching accounts.
Ying outlined changes to out-of-class reporting: employers will be able to edit records that are in pending validation status, and the system will return clearer CSV rejection messages so employers know why an upload failed. “We will enhance the error message … so the employer won’t have to contact CalPERS to triage the CSV file,” she said. The platform will also reject an uploaded CSV if a CalPERS ID isn’t found in myCalPERS, requiring employers to fix the ID and reupload.
The third change is a payroll validation intended to reduce duplicate processing. Ying said myCalPERS will block regular payroll posting when an associate’s pay requires an employment certification route; users will see a CRB 0049 error message instructing them to report via certification. “Having this new validation will help streamline the process and kind of prevent duplicates,” she said.
CalPERS noted screenshots were from a testing environment and subject to change. Staff encouraged employers to submit questions via the webinar Q&A for follow-up and to test processes once the release is live.
