Lycoming County launches Code Red public warning system; officials urge residents to register

Lycoming County’s Department of Public Safety announced a new public warning system, Code Red by OnSolve, during the commissioners’ May 20 meeting and asked residents and businesses to register for alerts.
DPS staff said the county had been without a reliable system and judged the previous system inadequate. The new platform will deliver severe-weather warnings, emergency evacuations, major road-closure notices, public-health notifications and other critical safety messages via text, phone call and email, the staff member said. The system can also be used for targeted employee notifications and can drill down to departments or specific county facilities for internal alerts: "we can send a system wide employee notification, or we can drill it down to just the Controller's Office... or just the Livestock Building," the presenter said.
County staff said they publicized the rollout on social media and through local media channels and encouraged all county residents, visitors and tenant organizations in county buildings to register to receive alerts. No vote or new funding appropriation for the system was recorded in the meeting minutes presented at the public meeting.
