Members of the Sandusky Boards & Commissions discussed a new tree-planting push on Tuesday, saying the city received a U.S. Forest Service grant that will fund hundreds of street trees and that Arbor Day activities are being scheduled amid school spring break conflicts.
The commission heard that the city received a $125,000 grant from the U.S. Forest Service. "We were awarded a hundred and 25,000, from the US Forestry department, and, we put in for specifically to cover all trees. So city will be providing the service," said Nate Leimeister, a staff member who reported on the program.
