Milford Middle School construction nearing finishes; district plans summer moves and traffic changes

District construction staff told the Milford board on May 15 that the new Milford Middle School is nearing interior finishes, with academic wing work winding down and preparations under way for a phased move this summer.
Jeff Johnson, presenting the facilities update, shared drone and interior photos of the academic courtyard, band and choir rooms, sound‑attenuation panels, learning stairs and a long projection screen over the cafeteria. He said finishes in the academic wing are “finishing up” and that staff will begin moving materials and displays from the current junior high into the new middle school in a few weeks.
Johnson said a road and parking area between the middle school and the stadium is slated for paving as weather allows; he expected that work in late May or early June. He described traffic pattern changes meant to improve safety, including a reconfigured entrance off Wolf Pen and a north parking lot for stacking parents dropping students at the middle school. Buses will load in a dedicated bus lot rather than blocking Eagles Way, he said.
Johnson also detailed the demolition and site schedule: trailers used for construction begin demolition June 1, building abatement starts June 23, and demolition of the existing junior high is planned after the move. He said foundations and certain site elements may still be under construction when school starts but that access and traffic control plans will be in place. The board asked for signage and staff/volunteer support at arrival times to help parents navigate new patterns.
Trustees and administration said they will coordinate further with Clermont County traffic authorities on Wolf Pen widening and the traffic signal on State Route 131, and they will conduct safety walkthroughs with local police and fire before occupancy.
