Monroe County commissioners on Thursday approved two facilities items at the Showers Building North: a contract change order for the Suite 109 health-clinic renovation and a separate proposal to construct an interior wall to create storage space.
Richard Kreider, the county’s building and fleet manager, described the first request as a change order from Building Associates for $9,138.74 to cover adjustments in flooring, countertops and electrical work associated with converting Suite 109 from office space to clinic use.
Kreider said acceptance of the change order would increase the project cost by the amount of the change order. He also described a separate Building Associates proposal, for $5,077, to add a new 10-foot-by-20-foot wall dividing Suites 201 and 202 to create two 1,080-square-foot storage rooms; the wall will be finished and painted to match existing finishes.
Commissioners discussed project timelines briefly and expressed approval; both items were approved by voice vote with a 3-0 tally and no public comment.
The change order will be charged to the county’s 2022 GO bond fund (fund 4815), and the interior-wall proposal was listed on the agenda under fund number 1138. County staff did not provide a corrected consolidated project total on the record; the change-order amount and the wall proposal amount were recorded in the meeting minutes.
There were no amendments to either motion. Implementation will be managed by the county building and fleet manager and Building Associates under the existing contract terms.
