Keller City Council certifies May election results and swears in Karen Brennan

The City Council of Keller on May 14, 2025 approved a resolution canvassing the May 2025 general election for City Council Places 3 and 4 and then administered the oath of office to Karen Brennan for Place 3.

The canvass resolution was moved and seconded during the council’s special meeting and the presiding official announced that the item was approved; no roll-call vote counts were read into the record. Judge Susan McCoy administered the oath to Karen Brennan following the canvass.

Judge Susan McCoy introduced Brennan and praised her service, saying she was “proud of my friend Karen Brennan who served—her entire career as an aerospace engineer at Lockheed.” Brennan repeated the oath and, in remarks after being sworn, said she enjoys serving and noted that she ran unopposed in the most recent election: “I think I spend about $24 a month on maintaining a website,” Brennan said when describing the low-cost approach she used during the unopposed campaign.

The meeting opened with a prayer led by Pastor Greg and the Pledge of Allegiance. Council members who were present made the motion and second to approve the canvass; the presiding official noted two colleagues were absent (one out of town and one at a youth soccer championship) before the council moved on to the oath and adjournment.

After the oath, Brennan thanked city staff and colleagues by name and referenced issues she has worked on since joining the council eight months earlier, including development concerns, traffic and recreation topics. The special meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
