During the sixth-grade orientation, Ralston Middle School administrators described the school's Chromebook program and the process for repairs and temporary replacements.
The information matters because the Chromebook is used across subjects and families need to understand care, charging and replacement procedures before the school year.
"All students will get a Chromebook the first week of school. That is your Chromebook for 3 years," said Sabrina Adler, Ralston's principal. She said students should leave chargers at home and charge the device each night. Families are expected to take care of the device; if there is accidental damage the school provides a locker-based swap system. Parents complete a form and receive a code by email within 24 to 48 hours; students use the code at the library locker to exchange for a temporary Chromebook.
Administrators said Chromebooks are used throughout the school day in many classes, and students should anticipate bringing the device to and from campus. The principal said schedules and orientation tours will demonstrate the locker swap and device-check procedures.
Families with specific questions were asked to contact the school office or attend upcoming feeder-school visits and orientation events.
