Hampton Township’s environmental services staff told the council on May 14 that a sanitary main under Ferguson Road has a substantial sag that cannot be repaired in place and must be replaced.
The repair follows a 2024 line-segment repair at or near 2255 Ferguson Road, where a new manhole was added. After that work, staff said, additional problems in the sanitary main were discovered and an excavation and replacement by contractor will be necessary.
Engineering provided only preliminary, loose estimates; staff said they did not want to rely on an unvetted number but mentioned engineering had suggested a ballpark figure of about $50,000, with the caveat that paving and backfill requirements could raise the cost. Environmental services requested authorization to advertise for bids to replace the pipe and restore the roadway to township standards.
No formal contract award or final cost was recorded at the agenda meeting; staff said they will return with quotes for council action after bid solicitation and evaluation.
