Administration read the proclamation at the start of the meeting and noted that Eric Schmidt of Shaler Hampton EMS had asked the township to issue a proclamation similar to one the neighboring Shaler Township issued. "Whereas emergency medical response is a vital public service…" the proclamation reads in part.
The text recognizes that emergency medical teams provide life-saving care around the clock, undergo ongoing training, and improve survival and recovery for residents who experience sudden illness or injury. The administration said the proclamation has been signed and will be handed to Eric Schmidt; the item required no formal council action.
Council members were invited to sign the proclamation. No vote or policy change was associated with the proclamation; staff described it as a ceremonial recognition.
