Staff reported a pro rata share calculation based on population and estimated Appling County's portion at roughly 15% (about $15,000 if the expanded audit cost $100,000).
Commissioners also voted to authorize the chairman to sign a complaint and join Wayne, Glenn (Glenn?), Camden and other counties in asking the state oversight committee to investigate potential financial irregularities in the Brunswick Circuit district attorney's office. Staff indicated Jeff Davis County had not yet voted because it did not meet before the county's decision.
The board moved and seconded the authorization; commissioners approved the action. Staff said the county would participate in cost-sharing for further audit work if the auditing firm requested additional procedures.
