The Mount Vernon City Council on May 14 authorized an amendment to the professional services agreement with HDR Engineering to add tasks to the 2025 sewer comprehensive plan, including additional flow monitoring, development of a hydraulic model and a sewer rate study.
Public Works Director Chris Phillips said the original contract, executed Aug. 29, 2023, was for $567,805 and that the amendment increases the total to $630,386. Phillips said the work includes updating the system inventory and GIS, forecasting demand, evaluating nutrient-reduction capabilities and completing an updated wastewater capital improvement plan and finance program.
Council moved and seconded authorization for the mayor to execute the contract amendment; the motion passed. Phillips said the amended scope will support planning for two decades of growth and complement the citywide comprehensive plan work underway.
