Appling County commissioners approved multiple appointments to regional and county authorities, accepted a retirement, and authorized recruiting to fill a department-head-level position.
On the development authority the board reappointed Mickey Bass, James Clark and James Futch to new terms and approved Jonathan Mann to fill a vacancy left by Andy Orban. The board also reappointed Eddie Cleland to the county tax assessor board. The board accepted the retirement letter of Tina Dowell, a county shop foreperson with more than 30 years of service; the retirement is effective June 1, 2025, and Dowell intends to begin remaining leave starting May 6. Commissioners voted to accept the retirement and to open the position as a department-head-level posting.
