Plano observes Peace Officers Memorial at Municipal Center, honors 18 Texas officers

The event was held at the Municipal Center and, according to Stoler, Plano Police joined agencies across the country to remember officers killed in the line of duty. Stoler said 18 Texas peace officers died in the line of duty this year.
Stoler noted the observance traces to a 1962 presidential proclamation by President John F. Kennedy that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week that contains that date as Police Week.
The announcement was part of a short Plano City News segment that also listed other upcoming city events.
