Mayor announces state law (HB 1039) allows La Center to provide wastewater service to Cowlitz Indian Tribe

"We are now able to service the tribe with the wastewater. With the $5,000,000 pipe that they paid for, they can finally get some use," Stroban said, and later described attending the bill-signing event with the governor and tribal representatives.
Council members congratulated city staff and those who worked on the bill. City attorney Janine (last name not specified in the meeting record) said she was pleased with the legislation and noted city staff had been working on related agenda items that evening. The mayor said additional detail about legislative session achievements will be presented at the council's May 28 meeting by staffer Hannah.
