Board members praised Duke Energy as a community partner and thanked Shannon Adams and Martinsville High School staff for leading the application. "What a great community partner, Duke Energy is for us," a trustee said during the meeting.
Administrators said the grant supports vocational and technical investments at the high school and that more announcements about career and technical opportunities will come mid‑summer and during the next school year as partnerships with skilled trades professionals and local businesses develop.
The board approved accepting the grant by voice vote; no roll‑call was recorded. Trustees said the funds will be used to expand offerings and that staff will provide updates on program implementation.
