The Putnam County School Board approved several personnel-allocation changes and time-sensitive program requests in an emergency-session vote Tuesday, and the board also authorized advertising of proposed policy updates.
Personnel and program votes: In a brief emergency session the board approved personnel-allocation adjustments for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 years (agenda items L-1 and L-2). Those motions were offered and seconded and carried unanimously. The board also approved item L-3, the 21st Century Community Learning Center summer program for June 2025, by unanimous vote.
Why it matters: Personnel-allocation approvals affect staffing and budget planning for the district year; the 21st Century (sometimes styled "First Century" in meeting remarks) summer program funds after-school and summer learning services for students and was described during the meeting as time-sensitive.
Policy actions: The board voted to adopt a package of amended policies (agenda item D-1) and to advertise revised policy 9200 and a new policy 9271 (agenda item N-1) consistent with NEOLA special updates. A motion to adopt the amended policies carried unanimously. A separate motion to advertise the two policy revisions also passed unanimously.
Consent agenda and tabling: Trustees approved the balance of the consent agenda after pulling E-6 and E-7 (items tied to the Marathon Health clinic project) for discussion; E-6 and E-7 were later tabled so the insurance committee and staff could return with alternative options.
Formal actions: The meeting transcript records motions and unanimous approvals on the personnel allocations (L-1 and L-2) and the summer program (L-3); the D-1 adoption and N-1 advertise motions passed unanimously. The E-6/E-7 tabling motion also passed unanimously and is being treated as a directive for additional committee analysis rather than an approval to proceed.
Board comments: Trustees used the reports portion of the meeting to highlight district accomplishments — including Cambridge recognition, athletics and teacher mentoring program milestones — and to remind the community about graduation-season safety. Several trustees praised food-service and wellness coordinators for district employee- and student-support work.
What’s next: Staff and the insurance committee will return with a recommendation on the wellness-clinic options. Routine implementation steps for newly adopted or advertised policies will follow the district’s NEOLA-guided process.
