The board moved and approved several routine items and policy updates during its regular business session.
Minutes from multiple April meetings were approved by roll call. During that vote, board members recorded "Approve" in response to the motion (names recorded in the meeting transcript: Director Barras, Director Smith, Director Spall, Director Zavala Ortega and the presiding director who also indicated approval). The consent agenda was likewise approved by roll call.
The board then voted to approve second readings of four policies updated to align with current law and guidance: Policy 3205 (student harassment prohibited, rewritten to align with Title IX regulations), Policy 3210 (nondiscrimination, updated to align with RCW 28A.380.246 and to add model student handbook language), Policy 4040 (public access to district records, establishing a $5 threshold for fee waivers) and Policy 5011 (staff harassment, rewritten to align with Title IX regulations). A motion to approve those policies was moved and seconded and carried on the roll call vote. Taylor Richmond summarized the policy changes before the vote.
Board members indicated these policies had been reviewed in committee and earlier readings and thanked staff for their work. The votes were taken verbally on the record; each director answered "Approve" when called.
