Putnam County Schools named Cambridge District of the Year for small districts

Cambridge University Press and Assessment formally named Putnam County School District the Cambridge District of the Year in the small-district category for the 2024–25 academic year at the school board meeting Tuesday.
Jeff Brewer of Cambridge told the board the award honors districts that expand access to Cambridge programming and maintain or improve student outcomes on Cambridge exams. "It is with great pride that we name Putnam County School District as the Cambridge District of the Year in the small district category for the 2024, 2025 academic year," Brewer said.
Why it matters: Cambridge singled out Putnam County for a combination of expanded student access (eight district schools now offer Cambridge pathways) and strong student performance, crediting district leadership, teachers and community support. Brewer thanked Superintendent Rick Sorency, Assistant Superintendent Laura France and the district leadership team for expanding programming.
