The Brookshire City Council on May 14 adopted Resolution 14-99 formally canvassing the returns of the May 3, 2025 general municipal election and administered oaths to the officials declared elected.
The council read the canvass that, as recorded in the resolution, declared Robert Chris Richards elected mayor and Monique Taylor and Linden Stamps elected to city council places 1 and 2, respectively, each for two-year terms beginning May 2025 and to serve until their successors are elected and qualified. After the canvass the council had Miss Connor administer the oath of office to the newly elected officials.
The resolution states the council investigated the matters pertaining to the election, including the ordering, giving notice, officers holding, and making returns, and found that proper notice and procedures were followed in compliance with federal, state and local law as recited in the resolution. The council then voted to accept Resolution 14-99 and declare the official results.
The formal adoption of the canvass and the oath-taking concluded a special meeting convened in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.
No additional actions relating to the election were recorded during the meeting; council members proceeded to the remainder of the agenda after the swearing-in.
