On the financial items, commissioners approved payroll and school payroll warrants and expense disbursements recorded on the meeting docket. The board approved a school payroll warrant for $384,979.07, a Zurich expense warrant for $2,414.42 and a school suspense warrant for $155,529.07. The commissioners also accepted the county trial balance for February 2025, which staff reported as $30,996,004.97.
County Director (unnamed) briefed the commission on the FY26 budget schedule and several operational projects. "Just a reminder, this afternoon at 05:00, the Norfolk County Advisory Board and Finance Committee will begin their work, to consider and vote on the FY 26 budget," the director told the commissioners. He said the finance committee would follow at 6 p.m., and the advisory board meeting would be held at the Agricultural High School.
The director also reported that the Dedham District Court Building Management System project, funded through ARPA, is moving toward completion. He described it as an "$800,000-ish" project to install a building-management diagnostic system to monitor HVAC systems; IT staff and electricians were finishing work, and a final assessment of valves (including a review for potential asbestos) remained under evaluation. The director said the county expects to transfer and operationalize a disaster-recovery room in Dedham within about two to four weeks, with new shelving arriving in mid to late June.
Finally, the director said the FY24 audit is nearing completion, and auditors were conducting site visits to certain county units, including the recreation facility and the registry of deeds, to review cash handling and operations. He said he expected audit work to be finished before the end of the fiscal year.
